Talks, Briefs, Field Trips and More! Start the New Year with Museum Programming

The National Army Museum public programs and special events explore the accomplishments, sacrifices, and commitment of American Soldiers.  See the Museum’s ongoing public program offerings as you start the new year and look for new educational history experiences.

Book, History & Gallery Talks

The Museum invites authors of recent books on Army and military history to discuss their work with the public. In this monthly offering, hear from scholars, journalists, and historians sharing in-depth examinations of Army history. You can also join the Museum team and visiting scholars in discussions about Army history in a Museum History Talk. Want a look inside the Museum? Join Museum curators for in-depth discussions highlighting Army history and artifacts in a Gallery Talk.

Battle Brief

Join Museum staff for presentations on the Army’s history at home and abroad. Explore a specific battle, campaign, or other event from the U.S. Army’s remarkable past, using maps and period images.

Virtual Field Trips

Virtual Field Trips connect students to the Museum without leaving their desks. Virtual lesson plans engage students in the Army’s history through artifacts, primary sources, and Soldiers’ Stories.

Spring Civil War Week

Each spring, the Museum offers a multi-day, detailed exploration of the American Civil War through a series of presentations by noted military historians, a curator discussion of select Museum Civil War artifacts, Battle Briefs, and other educational activities. Explore presentations from the 2021 Civil War Week. More information to come on 2022 Spring Civil War Week programming.

The National Museum of the United States Army’s public programs provide a variety of ways to learn more about Army history and traditions through various educational channels for both in person and virtual experiences. These free public programs are open to visitors of all ages and compliment The Army Historical Foundation’s virtual and in person member programming as well.
