The Army Historical Foundation (AHF) is hosting a joint program with the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to benefit the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).  This program will provide participants with an understanding of historical and contemporary examples of Army leadership that they will be able to apply to their professional careers.

Background

Scott will discuss the heroic actions of Battery A, 4th U.S. Artillery on Day 3 of the Battle of Gettysburg. Both First Lieutenant Alonzo Cushing and First Sergeant Frederick Fuger earned the Medal of Honor for inflicting significant casualties on the enemy and halting Pickett’s Division on the western slope of Cemetery Ridge.

Background

Mario served as a Platoon Sergeant during the initial invasion of both Afghanistan and Iraq. His platoon received a new Platoon Leader just weeks before both combat operations.

Mary A. Legere is a retired Lieutenant General and the former Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2) of the United States Army.

Mary has an ROTC background herself and she’ll share both her leadership journey and draw in some historical references. She will discuss her 30 years of experience directing intelligence, security, and cyber organizations, including the Army’s enterprise of 58,000 intelligence professionals in 140 countries and its 17,000-person U.S. Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).
