The Dowler Family

The Dowler Family.  Honored by LTC Thomas Dowler, USA-Ret.

Dowler 2
“Two Old Soldiers” John W. Dowler, WWI and Thomas W. Dowler, Korea and Viet Nam

I am proud of my family. Two ancestors fought in the Revolution that I know of. One that I know of was a Union soldier in the Civil War. Grandpa Guy Dowler fought in the Spanish American war and my dad, John, in WWI. I graduated from West Point, and made it to the Korean War and Vietnam War. Four of our five children served in US Army, all three sons seeing combat in the middle east, and one daughter serving at Walter Reed. A grandson served in a supporting role in Bosnian conflict with the USAF. It took two bricks to list the five generations of Dowler Warriors that I knew personally. None of us won medals for valor, none earned the Purple Heart, but six of us saw combat and the other two helped in supporting roles.
