Walmart Joins Forces with The Army Historical Foundation to Commemorate 250 Years of Service

Walmart has teamed with The Army Historical Foundation to promote the events and exhibitions marking the Army’s 250th Birthday. As the Foundation’s official corporate marketing sponsor for the commemoration, Walmart will enable the Foundation to host celebrations throughout 2025 and support the Foundation’s promotion of the special Revolutionary War exhibit now on display at the National Museum of the United States Army.

“The Army’s 250th Birthday is an extraordinary milestone, and we are grateful to Walmart for helping us celebrate by reminding the nation of all that we owe the American Soldier,” said retired Brig. Gen. Burt Thompson, president of The Army Historical Foundation.

Walmart’s connection with the U.S. Army began with the service of founder, Sam Walton, during World War II. Mr. Walton joined the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps, supervising security at aircraft plants and prisoner of war camps. He rose to the rank of Captain before concluding his service. In his spirit, Walmart continues supporting those who serve, hiring more than 400,000 veterans and military spouses since 2013 and granting more than $10 million to veteran-serving organizations since 2022.

Walmart’s generous sponsorship will help bring visitors from across the nation to the Museum’s special exhibit, CALL TO Arms: The Soldier and the Revolutionary War. The exhibit, highlighted in this issue of Call to Duty, will provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the Soldier’s experience through one of the most compelling collections of period artifacts and stories ever assembled.

Walmart’s gift supported the Foundation’s three-day excursion, 1775: The Army’s Revolutionary Road Battle Ride Boston, July 18 – 20. The sponsorship also included the 6.14K race in honor of the June 14 Birthday, and it will support an Army vs. Navy 5K run on December 6, and a spirited Army vs. Navy Watch Party and Tailgate at the Museum on December 13.
