This spring, BG Burt Thompson (USA-Ret), President of The Army Historical Foundation, shared his thoughts on the Army’s 250th Birthday on Comcast Newsmakers. The general explained that understanding the Army’s history is important “because it’s who we are. America’s Army is America.” He went on to describe how the Army has continuously evolved since its establishment, leading technological innovations that benefited both national security and civilian life. The American Soldier has also evolved, he explained, as the Army gradually became the fully integrated, all-volunteer force that it is today. Watch the whole interview on ComcastNewsmakers.com.

BG Thompson spoke at the Virginia General Assembly Military and Veteran Affairs Caucus’ Military Appreciation Night. In the room filled with veterans, BG Thompson held up the Museum as proof of the nation’s gratitude for their service, stating, “Regardless of what era you served, what part of the world you deployed to, or what the Army asked of you, the Museum shows how you are a part of the venerated legacy of the American Soldier.”
