On June 17, TODAY Show co-host Jenna Bush Hager landed her tandem skydiving adventure with the Golden Knights at the National Museum of the United States Army to honor her late grandfather President George H. W. Bush on what would have been his 97th birthday. The live, on-air jump also celebrated the Army’s 246th birthday and the reopening of the Museum.
“It feels like floating,” Bush Hager said once her chute deployed. “It’s peaceful and beautiful right now. I feel close to all the people I’ve been missing.”
Like Bush Hager, many visitors while touring the Museum have felt a connection to loved ones who have served. After parachuting in, Bush Hager broadcast live from the Museum’s future Warriors’ Field & Plaza. The TODAY Show co-host also toured the Museum with Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville and Director Tammy Call, highlighting the Museum’s reopening its doors to tell the stories of individuals who served in the Army.
“Not only do we tell those hero stories, but we also tell the stories of those who raised their hand and decided that they would service this nation,” said Call while speaking to Bush Hager. “The Army’s story is America’s story.”
