Lee’s Retreat: The Appomattox Campaign

Attention AHF members! The Army Historical Foundation will be conducting its Fall 2014 Staff Ride on 3-4 October. This two-day trip will focus on the final retreat of Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia following the conclusion of the Petersburg Campaign, the pursuit of the Union Army of the Potomac, and Lee’s eventual surrender at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. The cost for this trip is $295 ($490 double occupancy) and includes round-trip bus transportation, park admissions, hotel accommodations, box lunch, group dinner (first day), group lunch (second day), snacks, beverages, and maps/handouts.

As part of the 50-year commemoration of the Vietnam War, The Army Historical Foundation, Air Force Historical Foundation, Naval Historical Foundation, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, and the Foundation for Coast Guard History are hosting a two-day symposium on the air war over Southesat Asia. Featured panel discussions will include a wide range of subjects pertaining to air operations, including Operations Rolling Thunder and Linebacker, Logistics, Civil-Military Relations, the Easter Offensive, Search and Rescue, POWs, and other topics.
